Hike

feet after feet ...
the deathly bridge groans
school beckons

(Even today, many unprivileged areas see small children risk their lives to complete their journey to school. How poor, the path to education is fraught with danger and there is no one to do anything about it.)

    1. Indeed. That's what it is with miserable things - they make us realize us of our own gifts.

  2. The fact is these children would be doing it with a smile on their faces and bundled with the sweet innocence of childhood unlike many of the city based adults who would sit in air conditioned cars and complain about the traffic outside!

  5. Powerful image. However, when I look at our education system, I wonder what will happen to all these kids. The education is now removed from the practical requirements of a person.....Neither it enhances our intellectual prowess, nor it helps in getting jobs.

    1. There are a few schools that have recognized the need for schools that develop the creative side of children. That don't kill their imagination. When I hear that, I feel glad but a certain part of me says, "Why didn't I get such a school?" :D

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Sabyasachi.

  8. I know this. This is the case with many children in my native state. Beautifully portrayed. :)

  9. The problem is far greater than what we contemplate out of it.
The worst thing is, we're not even a part of the solution.

  11. this is so disheartening. Little kids have to go through such pain for education?

What is our government doing? We need to fight against this and ensure taxpayer's money is put to right use, starting from good infrastructure and proper educational infra in all small villages for children

    1. The government has all the solutions, my friend. It just is not ready yet to implement them for a positive change in the society.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
